The outlook is apparently bleak for Poz, a magazine that is devoted to covering the AIDS crisis, according to New York magazine. Revenues have been dropping due to cutbacks in the drug industry, which have resulted in a drastic loss of ad sales. The June issue will have only 48 editorial pages, about half of what it was last year. Publisher Brad Peebles and editor in chief Walter Armstrong are holding a meeting this week with the magazines supporters and are considering going forward as a 32-page monthly, perhaps even as a nonprofit. Armstrong points out that the meeting is a strategy meeting, not a wake.
