Organizers CAA and the Pet Shop Boys have announced the postponement of this summer’s gay pop music festival, Wotapalava, which was to have toured 18 markets during July and August. The lineup of talent included the Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Rufus Wainwright, and Sinéad O’Connor, but O’Connor’s withdrawal at the last minute made going forward with the project untenable. Creator and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant announced, “We have made this decision with the greatest of reluctance, but it seems impossible to proceed without a complete lineup of artists. We look forward to coming to America next year.” Rob Light, head of CAA’s music department, acknowledged that the gay-friendly tour had “attracted much enthusiasm and interest” and assured everyone that “we are already making preparations to ensure that Wotapalava will become a reality next year.”
