The David Lynch film Mulholland Drive, which was originally conceived as a television series for ABC, has been acquired by Universal Focus, a specialty arm of Universal Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The relationship central to the rather complex story involves Laura Harring (Little Nicky) as a woman who has lost her memory in a car accident and Naomi Watts (Tank Girl) as a new arrival in Hollywood seeking the traditional fame and fortune. As the women set out to solve the mystery of the one’s missing identity, their relationship deepens further than either had expected. The film is currently targeted for a release in the fall.
