The Amazing Race, a new reality show premiering Wednesday on CBS, features 11 couples, one of them gay. Joseph, 50, self-employed, and Bill, 47, a realtor, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., take their place at the starting line for a trip around the world. Each of the couples, some in relationships and some not, will have a chance at the grand prize of $1 million. The race will take place over the course of 30-40 days and will have the contestants competing in physical and mental tasks at various locations throughout the world. The couples are restricted to a tight budget and are allowed only limited plane travel, although any other means of getting to the next destination is fair game. Elimination will take place as couples start to straggle behind, the farthest behind each week being eliminated. For more information see www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/.
