Reuters reports that openly gay British music star Will Young has been unseated from the top of the pops after three weeks by Gareth Gates, who was one of Young's runners-up on the talent search series Pop Idol. Gates's cover of the 1965 Righteous Brothers hit "Unchained Melody" topped the U.K. singles charts, although his sales of 850,000 didn't match Young's record-setting first-week numbers of 1.1 million copies sold. Out pop veteran George Michael debuted at number 7 with his latest single, "Freeek!"
