Fans of the stage musical Chicago were perplexed to discover that the show's duet "Class"--sung by Velma Kelly (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones in the movie version) and Mama Morton (Queen Latifah)--didn't make it to the final cut of the new film. Out director Rob Marshall explains all to TV Guide Online. "We did shoot it, and we actually put it in a test screening," says Marshall, who notes that the song, unfortunately, put a crimp in the film's pacing. "When we asked the audience, 'Where did the movie feel slow?' they all said, 'Class.' It was painful to cut it, but when you're making a movie of a stage musical, songs do get eliminated." Marshall promises that the excised number will surface on the eventual Chicago DVD.
