BBC News reports that the United Kingdom's Independent Television Commission has dismissed the 21 complaints it received about a recent gay kiss on the long-running soap opera Coronation Street. The show's October 5 episode featured Todd Grimshaw (played by Bruno Langley), who has long been struggling with his sexuality, kissing Nick Tilsley (Adam Rickitt). While some viewers complained that the scene in question was too explicit for the show's early broadcast hour, the ITC ruled that the kiss "would not upset the majority of viewers," adding, "A young man's confusion with his sexuality, expressed in a clumsy and inexplicit manner, did not go beyond what has previously been seen in a drama at this time of the evening."
