If you miss the shirtless bloodsuckers of The Lair, or feel you could create the next Dante’s Cove, then Here TV wants to hear from you. Here TV (which owns The Advocate and its sister properties) is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year by looking back at a decade of groundbreaking programming, and by also looking to the future with a new foundation to help up-and-coming LGBT filmmakers.
The New Frontiers Film Project is the rare occasion when a television network asks its audience to submit their own finished film and television projects to be featured on the network. If your submission is considered by Here, it may be shown on the air and would give new filmmakers a chance to show their art to a large audience like never before. The selected programming will air throughout 2013 on Here TV across all its cable and web platforms.
Before Logo (or even Bravo, for that matter) Here TV was the first television channel programmed primarily for an LGBT audience.
“When we launched the network, a purely LGBT network was met with great skepticism and tremendous resistance," said Josh Rosenzweig, Senior Vice President of Original Programming. "The television and film projects that have aired over the past decade have all been part and parcel in entertaining and inspiring our LGBT audiences and motivating our allies to help us change hearts and minds across the country. We are eternally indebted to the LGBT creative community and to the brave distributors who have partnered with us over the years to have our stories seen and heard.”
Some of the network's early guilty pleasure such as Dante's Cove and Paradise Falls were huge fan faves. Now Here is turning to its viewers to find a fresh voice as it enters into its second decade and to find LGBT filmmakers and TV pros looking for a television audience clamoring for more gay and trans content.
