The Dallas Morning News editorial board wants ExxonMobil to finally add nondiscrimination protections for its LGBT employees.
The Irving, Texas-based oil giant has for years resisted a formal policy prohibiting discrimination against gay and trans employees; Texas, meanwhile allows people to be fired simply for being LGBT. ExxonMobil shareholders will consider changing the policy May 30, though the corporation still appears resistant to the change.
"By explicitly prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, the company will join the growing community of corporations that now view this as an essential and even indispensable part of doing business," the Morning News wrote in an editorial. Read the full piece here.
