Not only do Electronic Arts executives believe that the Defense of Marriage Act should be deemed unconstitutional, but they also know that striking down the law would simply make operations run a lot smoother.
The video game company signed an amicus brief with 70 other employers, including the city of Seattle, Gap Inc. and Xerox, urging the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to find DOMA unconstitutional.
"DOMA presents a number of problems for businesses like EA," the company wrote in a statement. "It creates regulatory, tax, and discrimination complications for employers, and that's why we're standing against it. The underlying lawsuit impacts all employers no matter how big or small, and no matter the industry, and we encourage other business to join these efforts."
The court will hear Golinski v. U.S. Office of Personnel Management, which challenges DOMA in the workplace.
