Irish rock star Bono has teamed up with five Christian music executives to promote HIV/AIDS awareness at Christian music venues, The [New Orleans] Times-Picayune reports. Jay Swartzendruber, head of public relations for Gotee Records and one of the executives involved in the project, said his company feels "very strongly that the evangelical church and the charismatic church and the Western church in general really need to wake up to the Bible's really clear principles for Christian service" when it comes to educating youth and adults about the global impact of HIV/AIDS. As part of the project, the group produced a three-minute public service announcement, which has played at nine Christian music festivals and various concerts around the country. "God is not looking for alms, God is looking for action," Bono says in the PSA. "History will judge us on how we deal with this crisis. God will judge us harder on how we deal with this crisis."
