An HIV-positive Minnesota man charged with deliberately exposing an Iowa City, Iowa, man to HIV through unprotected anal sex entered a guilty plea Tuesday to a reduced charge through a plea bargaining arrangement, The Des Moines Register reports. Aaron Dahlberg, 25, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., pleaded guilty to willful injury, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Criminal exposure to HIV carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. The plea bargain agreement was supported by both Dahlberg and his victim; neither of whom wished to talk about their sexual conduct in open court. Dahlberg allegedly lied to the Iowa City man about his serostatus before twice having unprotected sex with him in March 2000. Dahlberg's sentencing hearing is set for February 28.
