Researchers in China have developed the world's fastest HIV antibody test, which can produce results in just five minutes, Deutsche Presse-Agentur reports. Scientists at Tianjin-based Keju Corp. have patented the "HIV 1+2" tests, which they designed to be used on patients before emergency surgery and on blood donors. The tests also are expected to be widely used in HIV treatment outreach throughout the country. It was not reported whether the Chinese firm plans to make the test kits available outside China. The United Nations estimates that there could be as many as 10 million HIV-positive people living in China.
