A 38-year-old man was sentenced in London on Monday to eight years in jail for knowingly infecting two women with HIV. Last month HIV-positive Mohammed Dica was convicted of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm by "coldly and callously" infecting a divorcée and a mother of two, both in their 30s. It was the first time in more than a century that someone had been successfully prosecuted in England or Wales for knowingly passing on a sexually transmitted disease. During Monday's sentencing Inner London Crown Court judge Nicholas Philpot told Dica that his behavior had been "despicable."
