Almost 400 lesbian and gay couples in Finland have registered as legal partners since a law giving same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples took effect six months ago, Finnish news agency FNB reported Tuesday. The law, passed by the Finnish parliament one year ago, went into force at the end of March this year. Since then, 211 partnerships have been registered between men and 178 between women, FNB said.
