The Los Angeles Lakers and their captain, Kobe Bryant, recorded a video message to
fans denouncing bullying and defamatory language at the Staples Center.

The video will air locally in Los Angeles, according to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. It will also play during home games at the Staples Center.

The video comes a week after Bryant was shown on camera during a game calling a referee a homophobic slur. Bryant later apologized, but NBA officials said the league would fine him $100,000 for the remark.

Along with Bryant, teammates Lamar Odom, Shannon Brown, Pau Gasol, and Ron Artest ask fans to be respectful and celebrate each other's differences.
