Sen. Scott Brown is defending himself against criticism for being the only member of the Massachusetts congressional delegation not to participate in their "It Gets Better" video.
Coincidentally or not, Brown is also the only Republican in the delegation. But a spokesman for the senator told The Boston Globe that he was just too focused on creating jobs to join the video.
“Scott Brown has a strong record at the state and federal level against bullying and believes that all people regardless of sexual orientation should be treated with dignity and respect,’’ spokesman Colin Reed told the Globe. “His main focus right now is on creating jobs and getting our economy back on track.’’
Brown doesn't support marriage equality or the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. But he "accepts that gay marriage is settled law in Massachusetts and believes it’s time to move on," his spokesman said.
No Republicans have contributed to the "It Gets Better" video campaign.
