The Log Cabin Republicans may announce their endorsement of Mitt Romney for president as soon as this week.
The leaders behind the LGBT Republican organization still want to speak to Romney's campaign to understand his full views on gay rights and to see if they can lobby him to support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Washington Blade reported Monday. Log Cabin leaders will then meet to decide whether they will endorse the former Massachusetts governor.
A source speaking anonymously to the Blade said the Romney campaign "has expressed a lot of interest" in meeting with the Log Cabin Republicans.
R. Clarke Cooper, the group's executive director, added that Romney has expressed opposition to workplace discrimination, and if he did officially support ENDA, he would be joining his running mate, Paul Ryan, in support of the bill.
