Twitchy, a Twitter aggregation website founded by conservative pundit Michelle Malkin, was sold this week to Salem Communications, a Christian-oriented company that owns Townhall.com and Hotair.com
Jonathan Garthwaite, the general manager and editor in chief of Townhall.com, confirmed to Buzzfeed that his company bought Twitchy for an undisclosed amount Tuesday.
“Media Matters types would like to paint conservatives as boring, old white guys. Twitchy adds more fun and humor to our platform, which will appeal to a totally different generation and break that stereotype,” Garthwaite said in a statement to Buzzfeed.
A recent slideshow on the site features “important” conservative news pulled from Twitter, such as “What happened to Olivia Newton-John’s face?” which was apparently trending during the American Country Awards.
While serving as owner and CEO, the antigay Malkin said Twitchy generated at least 12 million page views per month.
