The first out Paralympian to medal at the 2012 London Games is equestrian Lee Pearson of Great Britain, reports The New Civil Rights Movement. Lee earned a silver medal in the individual championship test, riding a horse named Gentleman. The New Civil Rights Movement reports Lee's second-place finish was a close call against Australia's Joann Formosa, who took gold.
Lee already boasts nine gold medals from prior Paralympic Games, which this year feature 4,300 blind and disabled athletes. The 2012 London Games opened August 29 and will end September 9.
