's campaign to end H8 started when his partner wanted a No on 8
photo for his MySpace page. And of course, once that photo was
taken, Adam had to have one. "We saw people putting the 'I am
the victim' stuff up there, but we wanted to put our faces up
too -- we didn't want to hide who we are," Bouska explained.
Now, 337 people later (but still on his first roll of duct
tape), Bouska's No on 8 photo campaign has virtually dominated
the Facebook and MySpace profiles of Los Angeles-based gays and
lesbians. And in the aftermath of the Miss California
controversy, former Miss USAs (including Shanna Moakler, who
took to her blog moments after the show aired to express her
distaste for Miss California's views), a former Miss
Universe, and a slew of pageant folk have lent their time to
the campaign.
Bouska, who's 25 and
had only been living in Los Angeles for a year when he
took on this project, is showing his work tonight at West
Hollywood's Hamilton Selway art gallery and will continue to
shoot more people in an attempt to spread the word about what
happened in California. "It's been overwhelming, the people
who actually want to help and go out of their way for this,"
Bouska said. "I never expected it to get this big."
