Speaking with the government-backed network RT just before he cohosted the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Russia, Roberts called the national ban on so-called gay propaganda 'definitive discrimination.'
The out MSNBC anchor filed reports from Moscow about Russia's anti-LGBT laws, the Miss Universe competition he's there to host, and the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Out MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts strolled through Moscow with Anton Krasovsky, a fellow gay journalist who was fired for coming out on the air on his Kremlin-backed network earlier this year.
The out MSNBC anchor will serve as a cohost of the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, scheduled to take place in Moscow this November.
"I consider myself a Southerner and I'm embarrassed," Wright said.
