One of the world's most notorious military prisons can't keep one detainee from having an active interest in dating and American popular culture.

Being locked up in military prison at Guantanamo Bay isn't stopping inmate Muhammad Rahim al-Afghani from staying in the loop when it comes to current events, and as his unclassified letters to the his attorney prove, he has plenty of opinions, reports the Al Jazeera news network.

The detainee, who the U.K.'s Independent reports has been held in the U.S. maximum security military prison since 2008, apparently has an active presence on the dating website Match.com and thinks former Olympian and trans reality television star Caitlyn Jenner is an inspiration.

"This is terrible news about Ashley Madison please remove my profile immediately!!!" he said in one of his letters to following the leak of information from the site specializing in extramarital affairs, a leak that landed antigay activist Josh Duggar in extremely hot water. "I'll stick with Match.com ... There is no way I can get Tinder in here." He was joking about being on Ashley Madison, his attorney told Al Jazeera, but he dos have a Match.com account.

In another letter al-Afghani wrote, he talked about Jenner's rise to prominence as a voice for the trans community, saying that he is "happy for her because people are born how they are."

"How is she a Republican?" he asked, though, puzzled by Jenner's political preferences. "They want to take her rights away."

And like many people outside the walls of the highly secured prison, he is very interested in the 2016 presidential race.

"Donald Trump is an idiot!!! Sen. McCain is a war hero. Trump is a war zero," he wrote in another later, which Al Jazeera says was dated July of this year. "How can a racist run for president? At this rate, Hillary [Clinton] has a chance."

According to the Independent, al-Afghani is in custody for allegedly helping Osama bin Laden escape from Afghanistan in 2001, and despite being held prisoner in Guantanamo for several years, he still has yet to be formally charged with a war crime.
