One half of
clothing design duo Dolce & Gabbana has revealed that he
approached a female friend to be a surrogate mother to his
child, London's Daily Mail
tabloid reports. Stefan Gabbana told an Italian
newspaper that his friend, who is 12 years his junior,
is considering undergoing artificial insemination and
carrying his child; Gabbana said he is not willing to adopt.
"I am
opposed to the idea of a child growing up with two gay
parents," he added. "A child needs a
mother and a father. I could not imagine my childhood
without my mother. I also believe that it is cruel to take a
baby away from its mother."
Current Italian
law prohibits gays and lesbians from participating
in artificial insemination, according to the Daily
Mail. Many couples go abroad for the procedure.
