10. The Golden Girls: The Christmas Episodes
Get out those tacky sweaters and glittery brooches, because The Golden Girls: The Christmas Episodes, the 8th Annual All Drag Xmas Exdrag-a-ganza, has returned to San Francisco at the Victoria Theatre. Since 2005, Heklina (Dorothy), Cookie Dough (Sophia), Matthew Martin (Blanche), and Pollo Del Mar (Rose) have been performing every year as the Golden Girls. The two featured episodes that will be performed are "Rose The Prude/Blanche and the Younger Man" and "Ladies of the Evening." The Golden Girls: The Christmas Episodes runs December 5-22. Audience members are encouraged to wear their Christmas sweater best, just like those four classy dames would do. — Nicholas Cimarusti

9. FILM: Inside Llewyn Davis
Inside Llewyn Davis, a new film by the Coen brothers, is loosely based on the life of Dave Van Ronk, a New York folk singer who is remembered by many in the LGBT community as one of the handful arrested during the Stonewall riots. "As far as I was concerned, anybody who'd stand against the cops was all right with me,” the ally reportedly stated. Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac) might also be called a character in search of a revolution — he haunts the street corners and clubs of 1961 Greenwich Village with a guitar in hand, seeking an audience or, at the very least, a place to escape the winter cold. On his journey through the musical underworld (which, like the Coens’ O Brother, Where Art Thou, pays homage to Homer’s Odyssey), he encounters a talented cast of colorful musicians, including ex-lover Jean (Carey Mulligan), her partner (Justin Timberlake), and jazz artist Roland (John Goodman). There’s also a lost cat in need of saving. Although Davis’s own talents as a musician are under scrutiny in the world of the film, real-life critics are singing their praises for Inside Llewyn Davis, lauding its dark humor, satire, and soundtrack that breathes new life into the era of folk revival. Inside Llewyn Davis opens in limited release December 6.
