Hs080814-10_0_010. EVENT: Reel to Real: Portrayals and Perceptions of Gays in Hollywood
Launched in June in honor of LGBT Heritage Month, this exclusive exhibition features photos, costumes, props and iconic imagery and provides a unique perspective on how gays have been portrayed in Hollywood from early stereotypes to modern representations. While the exhibit was supposed to close at the end of Outfest, the Los Angeles LGBT filmfest, it's been extended due to popular demand. It includes items from LGBT craftspeople like 2 Broke Girls art director Amy Feldman, tuxes from the Days of Our Lives gay wedding, and the Roddy McDowall Powder Room, named in honor of that late gay actor, featuring some of his possessions as well as photos of LGBT and allied stars. And there's much, much more. The Hollywood Museum, Los Angeles, through September 28. -- Michelle Garcia

Hs080814-09_09. MUSIC: "Hello, I Love You,"Adore Delano
The season 6 runner-up from RuPaul's Drag Race may look pretty in pink for her latest video, but don't let that youthful beauty fool you. This teenage dream is more of a nightmare as she stalks her latest boy crush in "Hello, I Love You." It's a cute and well-sung "stalker anthem" involving scrapbooks, wedding plans, and numerous late night phone calls. Better hide your sons. Adore Delano is on the prowl. -- Scott Ragan

Hs080814-07_07. TV: The Knick
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, The Knick is a highly anticipated dramatic series that centers around a hospital in the early 20th century. Clive Owen stars as Dr. John Thackery, an opiate-addicted doctor at the Knickbocker Hospital in New York, who is tasked alongside his staff with bringing down the city's high mortality rate. The series shines a spotlight on the medical procedures that were considered the great advances in the field during their day -- though they may seem bloody and barbaric to modern audiences -- as well as racial tensions in a metropolis where medical care facilities were still segregated by skin color. The Knick premieres tonight at 10 Eastern on Cinemax. Watch the trailer below. -- Daniel Reynolds

5. TV: Please Like Me
Life is awkward, particularly if you're Josh, a gay Australian 20-something who just tries to get through the day without committing a humiliating faux pas, like making off-color jokes at parties or ignoring friends' problems or getting into sticky situations with hot roommates. Written by comedian Josh Thomas, the show is full of insightful, dramatic, and funny moments that will resonate with any young person regardless of sexual orientation, but the show will certainly appeal to gay audiences with its authentic characters. The second season of Australian import Please Like Me premieres tonight at 10:30 Eastern on Pivot TV. Watch the trailer below. -- Daniel Reynolds

Hs080814-04_04. MUSIC: "I'm Not the Only One,"Sam Smith
Sam Smith, the king of making you weep quietly (but deeply) on the inside, has released the video for his track "I'm Not the Only One." The video features The Mindy Project's Chris Messina as a philandering husband and Glee's Dianna Agron as his long-suffering, emotionally raw wife. Though the video does rely a lot on standard tropes (e.g. burning his clothes on the lawn, mascara running down Agron's cheeks), Smith's poignant vocals make the imagery hit home. -- Alex Panisch

Hs080814-03_03. THEATER: New York International Fringe Festival
North America's largest multi-arts festival will feature 1,200 performances by over 200 companies from around the world in more than 20 venues in New York City, beginning today and continuing through August 24. There's plenty of LGBT interest, including new takes on classics by gay writers -- The Picture (of Dorian Gray), a "remix" of Oscar Wilde's work, and Interior: Panic, a prequel to Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire that further explores the tortured soul of Blanche Du Bois. Then there's I Am Not I, about a young Latina dealing with gender identity issues as she approaches her quinceanera; Moses, the Author, in which the lawgiver has a gay son; Mother's Day, featuring a sharp-tongued drag queen with a very dysfunctional family; and much more. Find the full schedule and order tickets here, and check out photos of LGBT highlights here. -- Trudy Ring

The Dog, filmed over the course of 10 years, weaves archival footage with testimonies from Wojtowicz's friends, who recount his infamous 1972 attempt to rob a Chase Manhattan bank in order to fund the gender-reassignment surgery of partner Liz Eden. The documentary also portrays Wojtowicz's activism in the early days of the LGBT rights movement as well as the impact of Dog Day Afternoon on his life during and after his prison sentence. The Dog opens Friday in theaters. Watch the trailer below. -- Daniel Reynolds
