Pete Buttigieg has shaved his head.

The first major gay presidential candidate sported the new look Tuesday during a digital interview with Georgetown University's Institute of Politics and Public Service.

While the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., talked policy, fans on social media penned admiration for Buttigieg's new look.

Although not everyone was thrilled.

On the campaign trail, Buttigieg was known for a conservative look: clean-shaven, short and neat haircut, and a crisp white button-up shirt with dress pants. Like many in a time when the majority of the United States is sheltering in place, the politician has adopted a more relaxed appearance during Indiana's stay-at-home order.

In addition to the shaved head, Buttigieg has also grown a beard in lockdown, fulfilling a wish of #BeardedButtigieg and #BeardEdgeEdge fans who had digitally altered his face to include whiskers earlier in the year.

Chasten Buttigieg also showed a peek at his husband's new look Wednesday as the pair filled out their form for Census Day. "Today's fun activity you can do with your spouse has everything! Boxes you can click. Spots you can put your name and address in. It's the census!" Chasten remarked in his Instagram Story.

It is not clear how Buttigieg's head was shorn, but many in lockdown have resorted to cutting their own hair now that many salons and barbershops are closed, due to being classified as nonessential services. Folks have shown a range of success -- and failure -- in the task on social media.

What do you think of Pete's shaved head? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
