The president-elect promised to "fight for not only your safety but also the dignity and justice you have been denied."
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris commemorated Transgender Day of Remembrance, the event honoring trans and gender-nonconforming victims of violence.
At least 37 trans and GNC folks were killed this year, the majority of them people of color. The president-elect noted this in a Friday tweet while also pledging to enact change to prevent future deaths.
"It's intolerable," Biden stated of the death count: "This Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor their lives -- and recommit to the work that remains to end this epidemic of violence."

Biden also spoke directly to this at-risk community. "To transgender and gender-nonconforming people across America and around the world: from the moment I am sworn in as president, know that my administration will see you, listen to you, and fight for not only your safety but also the dignity and justice you have been denied."
Harris reiterated this vow for change in her own tweet: "Today and every day we must recommit to ending this epidemic."
