Deadpool is on target to demolish this weekend’s box office, already setting a record for an R-rated film’s preview night with Thursday’s $12.7 million haul. Making this debut even better is the fact that Marvel’s “merc with a mouth” is officially the first pansexual superhero to get his own big-screen adventure — and those involved with the film haven’t been shy about touting Wade Wilson’s affinity for both men and women. Even hunky star Ryan Reynolds recently told Variety he’d like to see the superhero get a boyfriend. We couldn't agree more!
Maybe you're one of the three people on earth who has yet to listen to "Formation." It's OK to admit it; just don't wait a minute longer. Queen Bey returns in her finest form yet, with a seriously catchy, thoughtful, and funny song — covering everything from hair to hot sauce — about black empowerment and pride, sprinkled with queer voices like Big Freedia and Messy Mya providing backup. The video takes it even further, with gorgeous images of a resilient New Orleans, black beauty, and an homage to Black Lives Matter. Bey's clocked lots of iconic songs and imagery ("Crazy in Love," "Irreplaceable," "Single Ladies," "Flawless"), but she takes it to the next level with "Formation," and in doing so cements her status as a musical icon for the ages.
The You & the Me
An unlikely friendship forms between two gay men — an atheist and a “spiritual junkie” — in the Web series The You & the Me. They take conversation to a new level as they ponder gay culture, the meaning of life, God, sex, vodka, twinks, and bears. It’s created by and stars Greg Archer and Jeff Dinnell. Watch a trailer below and find the first five episodes here.
Two boys fall in love in an intolerant Southern town in the 1970s in Eric Rosen’s stage adaptation of Jim Grimsley’s beloved novel. Critics have called the play, which is making its Los Angeles premiere, “seductive” and “haunting.” Directed by Michael Matthews and starring Matthew Boehm and Randall Ray Clute, it’s onstage now through March 20 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex. The bitches are back! The third season of Comedy Central's femme-led stoner take on young life in New York City has been gone way too long. Abbi and Ilana return for more misadventures, and according to the trailer, there will be no shortage of appearances from lovable side characters like Ilana's fuck buddy Lincoln and her ebullient gay roommate, Jaime. And is that Tony Danza and Cynthia Nixon we spot? The sneak peek also shows the girls packing their bags for what looks like Miami; South Beach will never the same. The third season premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern.
It’s been about 15 years since Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) took the fashion world by storm in Zoolander, a now-classic parody of the fashion industry. At long last, the really, really ridiculously good-looking model returns to the big screen to reunite with his old friend Hansel McDonald (Owen Wilson) in order to stop a string of assasinations of the world’s most beautiful people. Along the way, he runs into his archnenemis Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell) as well as fashionistas played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Penélope Cruz, and Kristen Wiig. There’s also a really, really ridiculous number of celebrity cameos, including Sting, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Macaulay Culkin, Mika, and Lenny Kravitz. Put on your best “Blue Steel” look and see Zoolander 2 in theaters this weekend.
The Walking Dead
When we last left The Walking Dead’s Rick and his not-so-merry band of walker-killers, the walls of their former safe haven, Alexandria, had been breached, as the walls of these safe havens eventually tend to be. Deanna, the onetime leader of Alexandria, had also been bitten, and she staged one last stand so that the others, covered in zombie guts and blood for camouflage, could escape. But will they escape? And what of this new villain, Degan, whose armed group forced Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha to surrender their episode at the end of the mid-season finale? Will they survive? Will the Wolf, once restrained in a basement in Alexandria, cause chaos with his escape and his hostage-taking of Denise? Will the gay couple or the lesbian character, Tara, ever find time for sweet lovemaking amid the tumult and torture of this post-apocalyptic world? Find out when season 6 resumes Sunday on AMC, and see the first four minutes in a special preview below.
