James B. Golden

Dr. James B. Golden is a queer Black poet, author, and leadership strategist from Salinas, California, where he served as the city’s inaugural poet laureate and composed its official poem, “Wave To Salinas.” A 2012 NAACP Image Award winner for Afro Clouds & Nappy Rain and author of four books, including BULL: The Journey of a Freedom Icon, he holds degrees from California State University, Northridge, Tiffin University, and a Doctor of Psychology from Phillips Graduate University. His work sits at the crossroads of Black spirituality, queerness, and justice-centered healing
