Mike Nelson is a Los Angeles-based editorial and portrait photographer who has photographed notable figures across politics and entertainment. His portraits for The Advocate have featured Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Sarah McBride, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Hailey. A native of Washington, D.C., Mike got his start in TV and film before focusing solely on photography beginning in 2018. When he's not working, you'll usually find Mike in line at an LA taco truck or working off the tacos at Runyon Canyon.
