A bill banning Medicaid from covering gender-affirming care for youth has passed the U.S. House with the help of four Democrats.
It comes weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force, which requires coverage for diabetes, cancer, and mental health screenings as well as access to HIV prevention, or PrEP, was properly appointed.
One bill requiring this is awaiting the governor's signature in Texas, while a Pennsylvania legislator is proposing a similar measure.
The decision came in a case involving Premera Blue Cross.

Texas Medicaid will no longer cover gender affirming care for transgender adults as of tomorrow.
This includes plans that are self-funded by employers and for which BCBS of Illinois serves as a third-party administrator.
