Fans showed up for the Mets, the first major league NYC sports team to sponsor the LGBT Pride Night Event event
It was a historic night at Citi Field in New York as the Mets were the first major league Gotham team to host an LGBT Pride Night. There have been 11 Major League Baseball Pride events throughout this season in the U.S., but never one in the nation's largest city. Martha Wash performed at the game as well as Styx, and $5 from each ticket purchased at Mets.com/pride went to the LGBT Network’s antibullying programs in Long Island and New York City schools. Ironically, the game was between the Mets and the San Diego Padres; the latter team recently had its own antigay scandal earlier this summer. The Mets were triumphant Saturday, winning 3-2 over San Diego. Thanks to Here Media staffers Dave Johnson and Kirk Pacheco for these photos.
