Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow is mounting a Comeback at HBO. The premium cable channel has picked up 13 episodes of a series starring Kudrow as a onetime sitcom star who is trying to revive her career. Kudrow and out Sex and the City executive producer Michael Patrick King cowrote the pilot script for Comeback and will executive-produce the series. In the pilot, directed by King, Kudrow was joined by costars Robert Michael Morris, Damian Young, Laura Silverman, Malin Akerman, Robert Bagnell, and Lance Barber. Comeback is the first half-hour show picked up to series since Sex and the City bowed out in the spring after six seasons. HBO has been actively pursuing new comedy projects in the wake of its departure. Friends, meanwhile, ended its 10-year NBC run in May.
