Variety reports that Universal will produce Flight 93, about the passengers who fought back against hijackers on September 11, 2001, with Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, Bloody Sunday) set to direct. The saga of Flight 93 has resonated among gays and lesbians because of the actions of gay rugby player Mark Bingham, one of the many gay heroes of 9/11. In a treatment, Greengrass wrote that his vision of the story would provide context for the upcoming fifth anniversary of the tragedy: "I...believe that sometimes, if you look clearly and unflinchingly at a single event, you can find in its shape something precious, something much larger than the event itself...the DNA of our times." The 40-day shoot is scheduled to being October 1, with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films producing.
