Several DVDs of gay and lesbian interest make their debut on Tuesday, October 18. Alice Wu's Sundance hit Saving Face (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) hilariously explores the complicated relationship between a closeted Chinese-American lesbian and her mother, particularly after the mother finds herself pregnant by a man whose identity she refuses to reveal. Family relationships are also at the center of Grand Sons (Strand Releasing Home Video), about the rapport between a 24-year-old man and his grandmother. Finally, there's Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat (Fox Home Entertainment), starring queer icon Tallulah Bankhead as a journalist struggling for survival after a Nazi U-boat torpedoes the ship on which she was traveling.
