Pee-wee's Playhouse, the long-absent series
starring gay favorite Paul Reubens, will return to
television when the Cartoon Network's late-night
lineup Adult Swim re-airs the series beginning July
10. The Emmy-winning show has been off the air for nearly
15 years.
"I'd say this was
a dream come true," Reubens said in a statement. "But
I never dared to dream the Playhouse would join Adult
Swim's amazing lineup of cool shows."
Since its
original Saturday morning run on CBS in 1986, the acclaimed
series won multiple Emmys and featured a star-filled
cast including Phil Hartman, Laurence Fishburne, S.
Epatha Merkerson, and Natasha Lyonne. Adult Swim will
air all 45 half-hour episodes of Pee-wee's Playhouse
Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. (ET/PT). (The
