Gay Bashing

Unfortunately, many of the high-profile news stories involving LGBT people are stories of gay bashing. From middle schoolers being taunted with antigay slurs to lesbians being murdered for showing affection in public, bias-related violence continues to threaten the LGBT community. But some good has come out of it too: Some of the more poignant gay-bashing incidents have lit a fire under politicians to help include sexual orientation and gender identity in the categories of things that make an act of violence a hate crime.
