A Brief History of Anti-LGBT Violence
The massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando reminds us that LGBT people have often been the targets of violence simply because of who they are and who they love. We look back on some of the homophobic and transphobic attacks that have made a deep impression on us. Most of this list — which is not exhaustive by any means — is drawn from the U.S., with selected incidents from around the globe. Remembering these crimes can help us honor the victims and strengthen our resolve to prevent further tragedies.
