The change comes after trans Kansans represented by Lambda Legal filed suit.
“All servicemembers will be treated with dignity and respect at all times,” the memo denying transgender soldiers of their existence states.
This comes after a court victory for nine organizations represented by Lambda Legal.
As of June 6, military commanders must identify anyone who may be trans for a medical evaluation and expulsion from the armed services.
The lawsuit seeks an injunction against the North Carolina law that regulates transgender people's bathroom use and denies LGBT people protections against discrimination.
The decision means the two girls can play sports this school year.
“The government made no secret of its intent," lead attorney Jennifer Levi of GLAD Law told The Advocate in an interview.
