The Chi
Lena Waithe has a new show on Showtime. The lesbian producer -- who made history for becoming the first African-American women to win an Emmy for Comedy Writing in 2017 -- has created The Chi, a series that tackles violence and police corruption in the South Side of Chicago, where Waithe herself was raised. The series, which will invite comparisons to The Wire, is a timely look at how one death can ripple through an entire community. It also boasts Common as an executive producer and Straight Outta Compton's Jason Mitchell as a lead. Watch it on Showtime this weekend.
