Scream, watch, listen, party, yaaaaas, and geek out with the seven things that are everything this week.
Fear the Walking Dead
The zombie apocalypse is beginning -- and the people of Los Angeles must deal with it in this Walking Dead prequel series. It introduces new set of characters, with a cast including Alycia Debnam-Carey and Frank Dillane (pictured), Ruben Blades, Cliff Curtis, and Mercedes Mason, facing the end of the world as they know it. Fear the Walking Dead comes to life Sunday at 9 p.m./8 p.m. Central on AMC. Watch a preview below.
American Ultra
Kristen Stewart, who recently may or may not have come out, is the star of a new film, American Ultra, alongside The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg. In the movie, a stoner-action flick, the pair play girlfriend and boyfriend -- the latter is a pothead who works at a West Virginia convenience store. Unbeknownst to him, he is also a sleeper agent, whose skills as a killer are activated. This is a good thing, since a bad-guy agent, played by Topher Grace, is hoping to have him exterminated. To this end, he kidnaps Stewart's character, forcing her love to go on a rescue mission. (Perhaps he should Google her to find her?) If none of this sounds logical, maybe Mary Jane could help make sense of it, if you see it in theaters this weekend. Check out the trailer below.
The Weeknd, Beauty Behind the Madness
Offering pleasures ranging from smooth vocals reminiscent of Michael Jackson on "Can't Feel My Face" to the brooding atmosphere on "The Hills," the latest album from the Weeknd, which arrives August 28, has already staked its claim as a power top of pop. But don't take our word for it; just listen to track below and try to remain still.
FYF Fest
We were really looking forward to a live performance from Frank Ocean this weekend at L.A.'s FYF Fest, but the singer mysteriously canceled his appearance (and is now replaced by Kanye West). The two-day event at the Memorial Sports Arena still includes Bloc Party (above) -- with their out lead singer Kele Okereke -- as well as legend Morrissey and indie darling Solange. Click here for the full lineup.
Troye Sivan, "Blue Neighbourhood" Trilogy Trailer
YouTube star, actor, singer, songwriter, inspiration, and LGBT trailblazer Troye Sivan is about to raise the bar for out pop stars with his upcoming EP Wild, arriving September 4. In the meantime, Sivan has given fans a sneak peek at what they can expect from the artist's upcoming endeavor with the "Blue Neighbourhood" trilogy trailer and what appears to be the story of childhood best friends who find themselves in a rocky romance. Watch the heart-wrenching trailer below and preorder the album now.
Grandma
Grandma marks Lily Tomlin's first lead role in a film in nearly three decades, which is one reason to celebrate. Another reason? The lesbian actress portrays a lesbian character -- Ellie, a poet whose partner has recently died. The film, which has already generated Oscar buzz for Tomlin, centers on the relationship between Ellie and her granddaughter Sage as they go on a road trip together and confront their pain. What are grandmas for, darlin'? Watch the trailer below.
Wonder Woman Omnibus, Vol. 1
Wonder Woman has long held a place in the hearts of LGBT folks, and artist-writer George Perez and his team gave her a relaunch in the late 1980s that cemented the great Amazon's status as an icon for all. Now DC Comics has collected the first two years of Perez's oeuvre in an omnibus volume, featuring more goddesses and supervillains than you can wrap a magic lasso around. It includes Wonder Woman issues 1-24 plus Wonder Woman annual number 1. Out now; order here.
