President Donald Trump complemented the hindquarters of a male U.S. Senator during a rally in Ohio.
The Republican commander-in-chief, during a Monday rally in Youngstown, Ohio, went on a rambling aside about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s physique.
“I don’t do this with men very often. I started examining his body because I didn't know he was a great athlete,” Trump said. “And I looked, and I watched up and down. And I looked at his ass and I looked at the whole...”

Husted is currently locked in a closely watched electoral match-up against Democratic challenger Sherrod Brown. It’s unclear how Husted may have felt about the compliment, given his long opposition to LGBTQ+ rights. Before his time in the Senate, Husted served an Ohio’s state lawmaker, where he voted in the Ohio House to ban same-sex marriage, though he opposed banning gays and lesbians from adopting children. As Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s Lieutenant Governor, Husted criticized his own boss — who had appointed him to Vice President J.D. Vance’s empty Senate seat in January of last year — for vetoing legislation that would have barred gender-affirming care for minors.
As his meandering drifted closer to GOP slash fiction, Trump admired Husted’s grip in addition to his posterior.

“Look at his hands. He's got these like claws, and I got it,” Trump said. “You are a great athlete.”
He waxed rhapsodic about Husted’s record on the field as much as in Congress, noting the Republican senator previously was a safety for the University of Dayton Flyers. While that attention rarely creates much spectacle, Trump said he was excited to learn about Husted’s days in athletic wear. “I didn’t know that about Jon,” Trump said.
Trump also went into more well-trod rhetoric, like claiming the 2020 election was stolen and asserting to have invested more in infrastructure than any world leader ever has. He claimed Husted was going up in polls, though the Real Clear Politics index of public polls shows most surveys find Brown in the lead against the appointed incumbent.

Trump noted that he has now made two stops to campaign for Husted, when he has only rallied votes for most senators once. He eventually circled back to Husted’s body.
“Look at the jawline, I’m telling you,” Trump said. “I never saw that. I never studied him. I now study him. I say, why was he such a good footballer? Look at that jawline.”
