Should Chris Hemsworth or Stephen Amell Portray Lestat on the Big Screen?

Anne Rice seems to think so.

This past week on her popular Facebook page, Anne Rice suggested that Thor star Chris Hemsworth, Arrow's Stephen Amell, or Anson Mount of Hell on Wheels would be best to portray her famous bisexual vampire Lestat if new film adaptations of her novels were produced. "Chris Hemsworth ... has Lestat's square face, cheerful eyes, and voice," noted Rice. "And let us not forget Stephen Amell either who also greatly resembles Lestat and has the body and face of a god."

She added, "Also Anson Mount who seemed at times to be Lestat prowling the frontier in Hell on Wheels."

The imaginative casting recommendations come on the heels of Rice's announcement that a new Vampire Chronicles novel will be hitting shelves later this year.

In a cheeky response to Rice's suggestions, actor Amell shared the post to his Facebook page with the message that if being cast as Lestat was "Good enough for [Tom] Cruise" it is "Good enough for [him]." He also tweeted about the subject, sending a message to writer (and son of Anne) Christopher Rice to "say hello for your mother to me."

While there doesn't seem to be any serious movement on adapting more volumes of the Vampire Chronicles for the screen, any of these actors would be the third to portray the antihero Lestat, after Tom Cruise in 1994's Interview With the Vampire and Stuart Townsend in 2002's Queen of the Damned.
