Superman sequel may keep gay director from sci-fi remake.
Variety reports that a commitment to direct a sequel to the forthcoming Superman Returns may keep out director Bryan Singer from directing his long-gestating remake of the '70s science fiction classic Logan's Run. Nothing official has been announced yet, but Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver hope to start shooting Logan's Run this fall, a timetable that would make the project overlap with a scheduled 2007 shoot for the next Superman movie. Even if Singer doesn't wind up directing Run, he'll take a producer credit to reflect his years of work on the project. Singer is also slated to direct The Mayor of Castro Street, based on Randy Shilts's biography of slain gay politician Harvey Milk, for out producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. (The Advocate)
