Former Grey's
Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has filed a
complaint against ABC after the show used the actor's image
for a current story line. A photo of Washington's character,
Dr. Preston Burke, was used in an episode that aired
May 9 depicting a mock newspaper article about
Burke's receiving a prestigious award, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The complaint, filed
through the Screen Actors Guild, claims that Grey's
Anatomy producers failed to ask for permission to
use the photo.
"They have the
rights of the character to advance the story, but not
the image," Washington's manager, Howard Bragman, told the
Reporter. He added that Washington is seeking a
"financial settlement."
Washington was
let go from the show in 2007 following his use -- on the
set and later at an awards show -- of a homophobic slur in
reference to costar T.R. Knight. (The
