Questions about police brutality seized headlines again with the recent shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. The news came days after a Black Lives Matter protest disrupted a Pride parade in Canada but also helped serve as a reminder of what spawned Pride events in the first place. Like other minority groups, LGBT people have too often found themselves on the receiving end of the police baton.
