10:52AM Los Angeles, Calif. Women and men from the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Seniors Services department volunteering for Project Angel Food, which provides free meals for people affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other illnesses. The Center Angels are a group of women and men ages 50 and up who take part in regular volunteer service projects.

"A short growing season with long, sun-filled days can satisfy the itch to dig in the dirt, weed, water, feed and enjoy the bounty. The dahlias are especially responsive and consistent producers. Terrific escape from the daily grind."

1:15PM Yuma, Ariz. Ricardo M Gonzalez, a court interpreter, with a group of defendants who don't speak English minutes before a court hearing. "I'm the language bridge among them, attorneys and thejudge during these hearings," he says.

2:25PM Benton Harbor, Mich. Whirlpool executive Brad Gorman shows off some of his Whirlpool PRIDE Network Post-Its. "Many employees use these Post-Its every day as a subtle way to come out as gay or as straight allies," he says.
