Francesca Gregorini
Francesca Gregorini is an out lesbian filmmaker who directed the 2014 psychological thriller The Truth About Emanuel, starring Jessica Biel, which has strong lesbian undertones. Born in Rome, Italy, Gregorini comes from a star-studded family: her stepfather is Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, her mother, Barbara Bach, is a famous Bond girl; her uncle is The Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh: and her stepbrother is The Who's drummer, Zak Starkey. Her directing credits also include Tanner Hall (2009) starring Rooney Mara. Gregorini has spoken to The Advocate about the need for female directors and the problems women face in a male-dominated film industry.
