Campus Pride honored three college students this past week with Voice & Action Leadership Awards for being young adult role models and activists within the LGBT community. The three college seniors, Celso Perez from Boston College, Shawna Scott from the University of Georgia, and Justin Hager from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, have each contributed to the fight for LGBT equality at university, local, and national levels.

Students competing for the Voice & Action Awards must complete an extensive application, provide letters of recommendation from faculty and fellow students, and undergo a review by a selection committee of university and corporate leaders.

Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride, praised the award recipients at the Midwest LGBT and Ally College Conference in Bloomington, Ind., saying, "Campus Pride is proud to recognize these young adults and the work that is being done at colleges and universities throughout the country. Seldom do we recognize young people who are indeed changing hearts and minds and leading the way today for the future of equality. The Voice & Action Award finally gives visible national recognition where it has long been overdue." (Shannon Connolly, Advocate.com)
